Animoca Brands and iCandy Launch ‘Snaky Cat’ Incubated by Coinbase in New Partnership
iCandy Interactive Limited (“iCandy”, ASX:ICI) announced today the release of Web3 game Snaky Cat on Base chain, the L2 incubated by Coinbase.
Animoca Brands, the company advancing digital property rights for gaming and the open metaverse, is a strategic partner in this iCandy initiative and has contributed to the design and implementation of certain core aspects of the Web3 components of Snaky Cat.
With a thriving community of over 370 million gamers worldwide, iCandy is one of the largest game developers in Australia and Southeast Asia.
Snaky Cat is developed by iCandy’s subsidiary studio, Appxplore, an award-winning Malaysian mobile game developer celebrated internationally for its innovative and successful mobile games that have garnered positive reviews from players and critics alike, including being named in Google Play’s Best Game of the Year awards, among other recognitions.
Snaky Cat is a multiplayer Web3 title where players control a unique feline with a snake-like body that feasts on food to grow even longer. The game is designed to capture the thrill of classic snake games while introducing the Web3 dimension of Play-and-Earn, allowing players to participate in a prize pool of cryptocurrency denominated in TOWER tokens, a governance and utility token for the TOWER ecosystem which currently comprises of the Crazy Kings, Crazy Defense Heroes, Chaos Kingdom, and Snaky Cat.
Base is a secure, low-cost, developer-friendly Ethereum L2 built to bring the next billion users onchain, and is launched by Coinbase, the largest U.S. crypto exchange, with a quarterly trading volume of US$92 billion.
Core Gameplay
Paying homage to the iconic snake games of yesteryear, Snaky Cat’s game mechanics are both simple and enthralling. Players start the game with a timer, and the game is over when the timer reaches 0. During this time, players guide their feline snake-like characters to feast on drops of food that will make the player’s cat grow longer.
Players can compete for a rare powerup to extend their timer, and they need to outmaneuver other cats, seize the remains dropped by other cats when they collide, become the longest cat, and slither up the leaderboard for a chance to win TOWER tokens.
The player must keep their cat from colliding with obstacles and other players, which gets harder as the cat becomes longer.
Players are prompted to connect their wallets before starting the game. In order to play a round players will need a ticket, which can be purchased using TOWER tokens. Snaky Cat is multiplayer, inviting players to compete against their friends and the broader Snaky Cat community.
