Binance Founder CZ Collaborates with Kyrgyzstan on Blockchain Legal Framework

Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the former CEO of Binance, has agreed to advise the Kyrgyz Republic on blockchain and cryptocurrency regulations following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the country’s National Investment Agency (NIA).

In his April 3 post on X (formerly Twitter), CZ expressed that he provides guidance to various governments on enhancing crypto regulations and implementing blockchain solutions beyond trading, considering this work “extremely meaningful.”

This collaboration aims to bolster Kyrgyzstan’s technological infrastructure by preparing professionals in blockchain, virtual asset management, and cybersecurity, thereby boosting the economy and ensuring virtual asset security.

Kyrgyzstan, endowed with abundant renewable energy resources, especially hydroelectric power, is emerging as an attractive destination for cryptocurrency mining. Hydroelectric energy constitutes over 30% of the country’s energy production, though much of its potential remains untapped.

This initiative follows CZ’s recent advisory roles with the Malaysian government and meetings with officials from the UAE and Bhutan, marking his continued involvement in global blockchain and cryptocurrency development after his release from a U.S. correctional facility in September 2024.

Additionally, CZ has shown interest in blockchain, AI, and biotechnology sectors, with recent philanthropic efforts including a $600,000 donation to victims of earthquakes in Thailand and Myanmar.
