Unlock Blockchain attracted subject matter experts from across various public and private sector organizations to talk about the potential of the blockchain in evolving processes and creating positive economic change across sectors. The event was organized by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal in partnership with Smart Dubai.
Held at the Ritz Carlton in Dubai, Unlock Blockchain constituted 2 days of panel discussions talks, sessions, key notes, and addresses on the potential of the Blockchain. The event covered different aspects of the new technology ranging from educating audiences, possible use cases, and future implication for business and governments.
The Blockchain is dubbed to be the biggest thing since the advent of the internet, it is estimated that the market value of the Blockchain will reach $290 billion by 2019. Governments across the globe are already working on use cases for the Blockchain, Dubai being one of the front runners with vision of executing all applicable government transactions on the Blockchain by 2020.

With the objective to become the first Blockchain powered city in the world, Dubai’s Blockchain strategy revolves around government efficiency, industry creation, and international thought leadership.
Avanza Solutions, one of the sponsors of the event, also participated in panel discussions to discuss how Blockchain can revolutionize governments by empowering smart cities leading to smarter and more efficient economies.
Avanza has bagged massive projects from building a Blockchain-based reconciliation and settlement engine for the Dubai Government’s Department of Finance to developing an AI and Blockchain-based emergency response nerve center for Dubai’s Health Authority. They have also collaborated with Avaya to launch a joint Blockchain product at GITEX 2017 which earned them Avaya’s Blockchain Ecosystem Partner of the Year award.
